Ladies Only “Swing with Bling” A Shining Success in Helping Kids Shine

On September 23, 2021 the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre (FVCDC), in partnership with generous community sponsors, hosted Helping Kids Shine Charity Golf Classic to benefit children and youth with diverse abilities and their families through our individual and group counselling program. Our highest need due to Covid-19.
The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre was founded in 1982, and is a fully accredited, registered charity governed by a volunteer board of directors. Our multidisciplinary team of 100 professionals care for over 3,600 children and youth with diverse abilities in the Fraser Valley each year, as well as providing support and educational training to parents/caregivers, early childhood professionals and community partners.
COVID-19 has created additional uncertainty, anxiety and stress for the children, youth and families we support. Overwhelmed even before the pandemic, now they are pushed to the breaking point. FVCDC’s counselling services are a lifeline for these families.
121 ladies came out in full force and full costume to support the children and families served by Fraser Valley Child Development Centre and to win the coveted best dressed prize! The sold-out event featured a round of golf at Fraserglen Golf Course in teams of four, contests, goodies, games, raffle, lunch, and great prizes! Thank you to the sponsors, community, and the wonderful ladies who came out and played for the kids! With your generosity and support we had our most successful year yet, surpassing our fundraising goal and netting $32,100 to directly care for more children and youth and families through our individual and group counselling program.

We look forward to next year where we aim to raise $40,000 for the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre’s 40th Anniversary.
