Occupational and Physical Therapy
School-Aged Services
(school entry to 18 years)
For school-aged children and youth we may continue to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy services through their school-based team in both public and private schools.
Our staff work closely with parents, teaching assistants, and teachers to help each child or youth function to the best of their abilities within their classroom setting.
Complementary services, primarily for assistance with equipment, can be provided at home when needed. Referrals are received through the school the child attends.

This may include:
Equipment and tools that support independence, participation and maximize learning
Programs to develop skills for daily living including self-care and mobility
Assistance with wheelchairs, walkers, and lifts
Consultation with schools around accessibility and inclusion
Provide training to ensure safe lifts and transfer of children and youth
FVCDC staff also do their best to help families with the transition to services, which will provide support for their child or youth as they enter their adult years.
Referrals for school-based services must be initiated by the school your child attends.
