For school-aged children and youth we may continue to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy services through their school-based team.
Our staff work closely with parents, teaching assistants, and teachers to help each child or youth function to the best of their abilities within their classroom setting.
This may include:
Equipment and tools that support independence, participation and maximize learning
Programs to develop skills for daily living including self-care and mobility
Consultation with schools around accessibility and inclusion
Provide training to ensure safe lifts and transfer of children and youth
Additional school age services include Key Worker (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Complex Developmental Behaviour Conditions), Behaviour Support, and Supported Child Development.
FVCDC staff also do their best to help families with the transition to services which will provide support for their child or youth as they enter their adult years.
