MP Ernie Klassen returns to his roots at FVCDC

MP Ernie Klassen (fourth from left) joined FVCDC CEO Karen Dickenson Smith (second from left), FVCDC board members Alex Mitchell and Peter and FVCDC employees for a tour and warm homecoming.

The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre welcomed back a dear friend with MP Ernie Klassen’s extensive visit Wednesday, May 20.

Klassen, now a Member of Parliament representing South Surrey-White Rock, is a proud founding member of the FVCDC. It’s through his grassroots work – and the grassroots work of many other caring parents – that we’ve been able to assist thousands of children and families throughout the Fraser Valley and Fraser Cascade regions since being established in 1982.

“It’s wonderful to be here and see the passion and dedication continuing for the sake of the kids and families who desperately need your services in this area,” Klassen said while touring FVCDC’s Abbotsford location on Ventura Avenue.

Klassen was joined by FVCDC CEO Karen Dickenson Smith and other FVCDC employees in touring areas where children receive physiotherapy, speech language pathology training and other services.

“We’re proud of the work we do, and for the continued support of MP Klassen and all our important and generous community partners,” said Dickenson Smith.

Klassen was especially pleased to reconnect with current Physiotherapy department leader Yvette Jollet, who worked alongside Klassen decades ago as the FVCDC’s first Executive Director.
