Physical Therapy/Physiotherapy
Our physical therapists help children who are at risk for developmental delays, specifically, those who have problems with physical movement. The goal of any treatment is to help children increase their physical independence and integrate more fully into their community settings.
We treat children with:
- Neurological conditions
- At risk pre-mature babies
- Genetic disorders
- Congenital conditions
- Other chronic conditions
Assessment
Physical therapists assess skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling, walking, climbing, running, and jumping. Your physical therapy team will focus on:
- How your child moves
- What motor skills your child has
- Why some activities are difficult
- How the muscles feel
- Your child’s balance
- How well your child functions in daily life
Services
- One on one / direct therapy
- Teaching you different ways to play with your child to help them develop muscle control and improve movement and independence
- Determining equipment needs such as custom seating, walkers, and standing frames
- Consultation concerning foot alignment
Physical therapy services are provided free of charge. They take place in your home, at the FVCDC facilities, in preschool / daycare, or in the community.
Referrals
You may refer your child to us, known as a self-referral. Caregivers, family doctors, preschool teachers, or anyone else involved in your child's life may also make referrals.
