Parenting Wisely: Young Children
The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre in Abbotsford is offering a free education course for parents of young children.
This free seven week course is designed to answer common questions including:
• “WHY do children sometimes act the way they do?”
• “HOW can you encourage co-operation from your children?”
• “WHAT will improve relationships among family members?”
The course runs on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm starting on September 21st – November 2/10. A light snack and refreshments are provided.

Playgroup
This service is FREE for our families. Each week drop in to have fun with your child and connect with other parents. The playgroup provides opportunities to meet with different therapist, consultants and support workers from the Fraser Valley Child Development Center.

Let's Sign (Chilliwack)
This class is for children who are part of the Infant Development Program at the FVCDC and their parents who would like to learn how to use American Sign Language. Throughout the five week class you will be taught over 200 signs and 10 songs. This will allow you to choose which signs you would like to use with your child. Information and tips on how to use these signs will also be covered in the class.

Runs every Friday from February 26th to March 26th

Kids Connecting Program
The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre will be facilitating the Kids Connecting Program from March 2nd – 11th, 2010. It will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm (4 sessions) over Spring Break.

This group is for 8-12 year olds from Abbotsford with ADHD (or suspected ADHD) who require support in developing their social skills. We develop these skills in an indirect manner through games, sharing, taking turns and performing tasks in pairs and teams.

As a part of this group there is also a parent orientation meeting on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 at 10am at the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre. Parents of children who will be attending the group must attend this meeting.

Infant Massage Class
This free course is design to teach parents/caregivers proper massage strokes and general information on
infants and the benefits of massage. This class is open to any baby or infant in his or her pre-crawling stage (also available for children with significant gross motor
delays).

This course takes place at the Abbotsford office on September 11th, 18th, 25th and October 2nd from 2–3p.m. All four session must be attended to receive a certificate of completion.

Playgroup provides your child opportunities to experience a group setting with children ages birth to five. The group consist of free play, snack and circle time. We will sing songs, listen to stories, explore and create together. There will be opportunities to meet with different therapists and consultants from the FVCDC. Playgroup is a time to connect with other parents while having your developmental questions and concerns address in child friendly atmosphere.
