Donors and Friends

By supporting the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre, funds directly benefit children and youth with diverse abilities and their families in the Fraser Valley.

The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre (FVCDC) was founded in 1982 and is a fully accredited, registered charity governed by a volunteer board of directors.

We provide opportunities and services which enhance the quality of life for children and youth with diverse abilities and their families, supporting nearly 4,000 children and youth in the Fraser Valley per year. With your support, we are “Helping Kids Shine”

Most non-profits excel because their community cares. We are thankful for our friends who have volunteered their time; donated to support our services; and those who have participated at our annual events.

Our individual, corporate and community partners – business, government agencies, and service clubs generously support the sustainability of our services. By supporting the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre, you are directly benefiting children and youth with diverse abilities and their families.

FVCDC areas of priority are:

Early Intervention Therapy

With large caseloads of children birth to five years old requiring early intervention, your support will allow us to reach more children and provide group therapy interventions. This includes Service coordination and support from a primary service provider, Individualized intervention, from Developmental Consultants, Occupational, Physical and Speech Language Therapists, Parent education, counseling, coaching, Supports in preschool/daycares, Kindergarten transition, Parent, and child programs.

The CALM Curriculum©

In response to growing referrals for children with behaviors, dysregulation, and social/emotional concerns, the CALM Curriculum was created. This innovative play-based and research informed program is specifically designed to nurture young children’s self-regulation skills and strengthen social emotional well-being. Due to the pandemic, the world as we know it has completely shifted and now there is an even greater need to support children’s social and emotional development, your support will enhance the provision of the CALM groups for children pre-school to grade three.

Family Counselling Support

Today’s families are more complex, often with single parenting, blended families, financial stressors, and many other systemic and mutigenerational barriers including the recent pandemic. Having a child or youth with diverse abilities brings with it unique and complex issues that create additional stressors and barriers to participation on families. Our clinical counsellors provide therapeutic conversations in a safe space for processing to take place and to achieve co-created goals.

Family Emergency Fund and Barrier Free Access

Support is provided to families with limited financial resources for a variety of reasons including replacing essential equipment to support the needs of the child or youth, childcare so they can attend a program provided by the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre or transportation to attend an FVCDC or other medical/specialized child and youth development appointments. Due to increased demand, the program was expanded during the Covid-19 Pandemic and for disaster relief during the Fraser East Flooding to include grocery and gas cards, taxi funding, clothing, personal and medical supplies, toys etc. In the past ten years, FVCDC staff have contributed $100,000 to directly support families, with your support we are able to continue to respond support families in need.
