CARF Accreditation

The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is a non-profit, independent organisation that surveys and accredits more than 5000 human service providers worldwide. A service or program that is CARF accredited has passed an in-depth review and meets rigorous CARF guidelines for quality. This tells you, the consumer, that the programs conform to national and international service standards.

The FVCDC was first accredited by CARF in 2004. In February of 2007, surveyors from CARF spent three days with our teams visiting different locations; attending home visits; observing services; and interviewing parents, community partners, and staff. As a result, the Centre received a second three- year accreditation.

Our accredited services and programs include:
The Infant Development Program, Supported Child Development, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Family Services, Key Workers, Next Step Autism, and the Fraser Health Assessment Clinic (FHAN).

This means that you have the following assurances:

  • We strive to eliminate barriers that prevent you from receiving the services you need.
  • You are involved in the service planning for your children.
  • We respect and preserve your confidentiality. We inform you of your rights to privacy during our initial contact.
  • We respect your cultural and individual preferences.
  • We inform you of our complaints resolution process. Concerns and complaints are resolved without any repercussions to the complainant.
  • We are knowledgeable of community resources that may be helpful to you.
  • Our staff is fully qualified and has ample opportunity for professional development.
  • We are accountable to our funding sources, referral agencies, and the community at large.
  • We address health and safety concerns such as building safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Our management practices are efficient, cost effective, and based on outcomes and consumer satisfaction
